I have a 96 chevy express 2500 van vortec 4.3. The engine cranks but doesn't start. I can hear the fuel pump come on when I turn the key. It is getting spark also. Tried starter fluid and it still doesn't even want to try and fire with the starting fluid. I am stumped any ideas anyone? Ran fine the other day went out in the morning to start and nothing.

Replacing the Ignition Control Module (ICM) will likely solve the problem. Easy job.

I went to check the ignition timing by pulling out the number one plug and putting it at tdc. When I went to crank it over it sounded like it wanted to start. I replaced the plug and it fired right up and ran fine. Went out this morning and the same thing happened just cranked over. Pulled the number one plug out and cranked it and it started. Replaced the plug and it started up and runs fine. I am totally stumped. Is it getting too much fuel?? Bad fuel pump or injector maybe?
