The bathroom in my house was completely renovated 5 years ago. Tonight, I had a bath in my jacuzzi soaker tub, without the jets on, just wanted a nice long soak. I thought I could hear water dripping, but I couldn't figure out what it could be. Later, when I came downstairs, there was water all over the kitchen floor and when I looked up to the ceiling, you could see the leak was coming out of the small pot light fixture in the ceiling. Some of the paint was bubbling around it too!

What in the world could have caused this and what should I do now? Please and thanks.

I would suggest you not wait for an answer here or you are going to have quite a messed up ceiling and possibly other problems as well. Not that you don't have a big problem now. Please call a plumber and then someone to repair your ceiling, and check your house insurance for coverage as well.

Tom, nice to see you back again ! I hope OP does come back so she can access your outstanding assistance but her ceiling is probably quite ruined by now anyway.:eek: I had that problem once upon a time and called in help as soon as I saw it before it got that far. But I wasn't on here and I didn't know you :)

What I would do at this time would be to cut a square out of the ceiling and save it for a patch later. I would then take a wad of TP and starting ar the drain follow the pipes down until I ran into moisture. That would be the cause of the leak. We colud then give advice on the repair. And it's nice to see you again also Tick! Tom

I called the man who did the reno 5 yrs ago and he's going to come by and have a look and we'll go from there. I definitely want to nip this one in the bud asap!

Did you ever figure this out? We had the same thing just happen. We have a Jacuzzi bath and literally have used 5 times in 7 years. My wife was using the bath and all of a sudden water coming through the ceiling. Our plumber said he found jet fitting but not the suction what was your solution?

We are having the same problem now, but we ran the jets (first time in 2 years). What was the solution please? The water isn't THAT much (maybe half a bucket full) which leads us to believe it is a jet issue and not a busted pipe issue.

First, and before you do anything, I would check your overflow plate first. Second, I would check unions on pump under the tub. They are only hand tight so there is a good possibility of a leak. Then I would look at the jets and tub plumbing.
