Loss of pressure for kitchen sink sprayer
My kitchen sink spray was working all right, plenty of pressure until I had a new faucet installed.
The faucet has pressure (as before the change) but when I use the sprayer it goes down to almost a trickle. Before the change the faucet and sprayer had good pressure, now, only the sprayer has lost pressure?
Can someone tell me where to look? What should I check? Is it possible that the hose under the sink is too long? I don't want this plumber (and I use that term loosely) back and I would like to see if I can find and fix it myself. By the way, I only replaced the old one because it was old and dated, it still worked fine.
Lost in the desert..
Re: Loss of pressure for kitchen sink sprayer
Ya got me confused, Are you sayingng you replaced the deck faucet and kept the old sprayer? Or, (as I suppect) does the new faucet work fine but the sprayer that came with it does not. If iit's the latter then you have a clog in the spray head or a faulty diverter. I would take the spray head off and open the faucet. You should get a full stream through the open hose and the spout should shut off. If that doesn't happen, then you have a faulty diverter and to give you instructions on how to change it, I will need the brand of faucet and the model# would be nice. Hope this helps you out. Tom
Re: Loss of pressure for kitchen sink sprayer
Yes, I've had the whole unit replaced. Everything is new.
I have tried to get the spray head off, but can't figure it out, must be a way, but I can't find the instructions that came with the unit (think the "plumber" might have taken or thrown them out with his trash) so,
The Brand and Model number is:
Price Pfister

Thanks for your help!! :)
Loss of pressure for kitchen sink sprayer
At the base of the sprayer where the hose enters it, is the threaded piece that will allow you to remove it. Turn it out counterclockwise. Follow directions in my first post to determine if the diverter's working. If the spout shuts down and you have full flow from the open hose then check the sprayer for a clog. That's where you will find your problem. Cheers, Tom
Loss of pressure for kitchen sink sprayer
Where is the diverter valve located on the kitchen faucet sprayer? I lose water pressure on the hot water side. It starts at full pressure then drops off. I believe it is related to the sprayer. I have no idea where to look for the model number or manufacturer since this is the original faucet and it is 15 years old. Any guidance would be much appreciated.
Re: Loss of pressure for kitchen sink sprayer
Have you checked the diverter as I suggested?
Take the spray head off and open the faucet. You should get a full stream through the open hose and the spout should shut off. If that doesn't happen, then you have a faulty diverter. The diverter on all kitchen faucets is located at the base of the valve body. To access it you need to remove the spout assembly.
The diverter shuts off the flow of BOTH hot and cold water to the spout. The spray is pressured all the time the valve is opened. When you open the spray, that's when the diverted shuts off the flow to the spout. I still say that a small piece of solder or a chunk of trash has got in your hot water supply line. Every time you call for hot water it will flow until the obstruction works its way up the supply line into the in let port of the cartridge or in the case of a two handle, the seat. Turn off the water, open up the valve body, place a pan over it to prevent splash and flush out the supply lines. Cheers, Tom
Kitchen sink sprayer - no pressure
I have a peerless double handle cartridge style faucet w/sprayer.
(1) I have plenty of pressure from both the hot and cold supply to the spout, but when I try the sprayer, I get a momentary burst of spray and then quickly to only a drip. When I turn the sprayer on, the water going to the spout does not turn off. From reading previous post to this subject, I can guess that it is the diverter. I also get low pressure from both the hot and cold for a little while to the spout after the sprayer handle is squeezed. How do I fix/replace a diverter?
(2) I took the handles off and the cartridges out (looking for blockages) and the entire fixture off trying to figure out the diverter (no luck), but when I put it all back together, the handles no longer seat down flush to the base. Perhaps, I'm a little punchy, frustrated or other, but why don't they sit flush to the base anymore? The nut that holds the cartridge is completely down and the cartridge is seated and in all the way. This is a mystery to me.. Help. I'd like to get this fixed fast and cheaply before selling the house.
Loss of presssure for kitchen sink sprayer
After reading your suggestions to other mailings I believe I have a diverter problem... I have a kohler k-10412 single control faucet... please assist me in cleaning out the diverter. Thanks
Having flow problem with Price Pfister
Hi there, I have a price pfister 533-50SS. I even have all the documentation (who knew?). It was installed two years ago, but not by me.
The flow is slowing down to nearly a trickle and the faucet runs for quite a while before the water stops. When I went to the website, it offered me two new assemblies.
Is there anything I can check or adjust before I spend $40 on a new assembly? There are instructions for "valve replacement" but no symptoms to check against to see if this is my problem or what to do if indeed it is (for example does one replace the cartridge, the washer or both?)
Any insight would be very helpful... Good day do all.
Replacing a diverter valve
I just purchased a kohler diverter valve to replace in my kitchen. The sprayer is not working. Could someone please help me begin the process - thanks
