Well, at age 74 is it really that big a deal? Not being smart but bacon, eggs and waffles aren't necessarily deadly foods, even for a 74-year-old with high blood pressure. Cutting back on the bacon probably isn't a bad idea but eggs and waffles are relatively harmless. But fruit, vegetables, whole-grain breads (you can probably even buy whole-grain waffles if you look around), oatmeal and cold cereals (w/o sugar) are healthful choices.
It's not the foods I'd worry about at this point, it's non-compliance with the medication. He needs to be taking the high blood pressure medicine.
