    1 mole of a substance has a mass equal to the relative molecular mass of that substance.

    Say, 1 mole of Oxygen. Oxygen has a relative molecular mass of 32.
    Hence, 1 mole of oxygen gas has a mass of 32 g.

    Now, sodium carbonate has the formula
    Find the mass of 2 Na atoms, 1 C atom and 3 O atom. Add them up.

    1 mole of sodium carbonate has the mass that you just got.
    Use proportions to find how many moles 53 g of sodium carbonate contains.
