If I'm getting garnished from a hospital bill can they take my federal taxes from me?

They cannot lien against the refund itself but they CAN lien against the refund amount once it's deposted in your bank.

Actually, they can get the refund if they petition a federal court, but it takes SO long and is so complicated that most debt collectors will NOT bother.
