    Laminate installation
    Hello,
My neighbor has glued a large piece of laminate to a freestanding counter. There is about a foot of excess material left on each side. What is the best method of trimming the excess material close enough to the counter so that a router can be used to finish the project?
    Thank you

I'd go the cutting wheel attachment on a Dremel - fearing that a jigsaw or circular saw might cause cracks/damage to the laminate over the surface where you want to keep it.

You can get laminate shears in the laminate/countertop area of your Lowes/Home Depot.

If your using a router w/ a liminate cutting bit the excess shouldn't matter. The ball bearing will follow the counter edge around the top.

Thanks for the replies to my question. I couldn't get the shears in time so I used a dremel with a reinforced wheel to cut the top close to the counter base and then finished it with a router. Worked well.
