    Alimony Judgement and life insurance
If I have a judgement for alimony against me from a prior spouse and I die,can that judgement be collected from my life insurance policy, leaving my current spouse with nothing?

Who is the beneficiary of the policy, your wife or your estate?

I believe that if, when you die, the policy is payable directly to the beneficiary (if the beneficiary is your wife), and is not payable to your estate your ex-wife would have to look to your estate for payment of that debt.

Was the insurance policy mentioned in the divorce settlement? That might make the outcome different.

Thank you very much. The policy is payable to my wife who is the only beneficiary and was never discussed in the divorce. That's a load off my mind, thank you again.
