What can be done about threatening & odd neighbour behaviour
I have a friend and am looking at options for him on something that happened, no really I do have a friend!

Yesterday a neighbor handed my friend’s wife a parcel containing various pictures, objects and writing describing the neighbor’s life story, how he is a pedophile and that the wife had better watch her kids. In discussing with my friend, there were some disturbing elements that the neighbor described about his life that are parallels with current circumstances etc, my friend’s kid’s age, his wife’s age. He then went on to describe her as his girlfriend and how he loves her.

For information - Included was an appointment card for a local Mental Health Clinic.

My friend and wife went to the police/sheriffs’ office and have basically been told they can do nothing unless he does something more. They may be able to lean on him!

He lives in California if that is relevant.

I am from the UK and this guy by all sounds would be sectioned there, what can my friend do here in this circumstance. Surely somebody who appears to have some issues cannot be allowed to do this without some actions being available.

My friend and his family have moved into a hotel straight away and are visibly upset and don't know what to do, so any quick responses / advice would be good. I have tried to convince him to go home while he works it out but they are held up in the hotel by the looks of it.

Have your friends contacted the mental health clinic that was on the appointment card and spoken with them about this creep?

The cops would like to do something about this but just handing a parcel to someone is not against the law.

They should go home and post very large no trespassing signs all over their property and then when creepo comes onto their property call the cops and have him arrested for trespassing. Or then can move elsewhere. Or they can fight this guy legally.

If he has not broken any laws there is nothing they can do, perhaps talk to him and get him to give names, places and dates of his crimes

    Hello:

It looks like he was simply warning your friend NOT to let his kids come around him. I think that was a rather nice thing to do, no?

You didn't say he made threats. I think he's a FINE neighbor.
