Are Heat Pumps worth it in NE? I am looking at a dule fuel system?
I am building a 4600 sqf house in MA and am considering putting in the following

2-4 Ton American Standard Heritage 16 Seer Heat Pumps
2-4 Ton American Stnadard variable Speed Air handlers w/ Hydro-Air
3 Zones on each Air Handler
    1- G215/4 Buderus Boiler

The heat pumps would be for Temperature ranges from 45 F and up & the Boiler would be for cold days. I am wondering whether this is where people are leaning towards with higher fuel costs or are the heat pumps a waste of money?

    Thanks

Think about what is your average winter time temperature if its below 35 a lot, hp won`t be a lot of help but will help a little in 32-35 degree weather and colder the boiler will be doing most of the work,, there not a terrible lot of difference in the cost between hp and ac only condenser,, ask your friends and neighbors what do they have and what works best in your area
