Two of the best books I've ever read are 'Memoirs of a geisha' and 'The talisman', they were the sort of books that you can't put down. Could any one name me a book which they found hard to put down? I love books like that.

I like Robert Parker mysteries. They are always a one day read. But based on the sample of your interests, you probably won't.
If you're after a good "seasonal" book - I just finished reading "Skipping Christmas" by John Grisham. Could not put it down. The book was developed into a movie "Christmas with the Kranks" last year. The movie didn't do the book justice.
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll give them a go.
I can't put down any of Catherine Coulter's FBI series books. And Patricia Cornwell's books about Dr. Kay Scarpetta are equally amazing.Quote:

For a more "literary" style of book, I'd recommend The Kommandant's Mistress by Shari Szeman and The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien.
I also couldn't put down Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood, Fugitive Pieces by Anne Michaels and The Curious Incident of the Dog In the Nighttime by Mark Haddon. All wonderful reads.
Anne Rice, Michael Connelly, for comedy try janet evanovich
