Oh, honey it's not that bad. Of course, I don't know what link KISS provided I didn't have to customize my GYN appt.
Now, you will go and the first thing you will do is pee in a cup then go to a room where you will undress completely and put a gown on. The nurse will take your blood pressure, temperature and weight. The doctor will come in and you will have to put your legs in stirrups. Then the doctor will insert something that is called a speculum, into your vagina. Now, you will NOT be alone with the doctor, there has to be a female nurse with you at all times.
When the speculum is in your vagina (and it's not as bad as it sounds), the doctor will take some scrapings of your cervix. This does not hurt at all because your cervix doesn't have nerve endings. Once that is done he/she will take the speculum out. You will put your legs back down and then the doctor will do a breast exam. The entire experience takes about 10 minutes at the most.
If you are afraid, that's okay. Let the nurse know so that she can make the experience as pleasant as possible.
I don't care if it hurts, I just don't want touched. I've been "hurt" before, many times

The doctor will not touch you without telling you first. Here is how I do it with my patients...Quote:

If you talk to the nurse and let her know you are scared, or that you have had "problems" in the past, she will help make you more comfortable.
Also, remember that there will always be a nurse in the room with you. The doctor will not be able to touch you inappropriately in any way.

No, they will not sedate you. But they aren't going to rape you either. What I suggest you do, though, is take a Melatonin pill about a half hour before your appointment, this will help you relax.
I'm so sorry that someone hurt you bad enough to have this fear that you have, hopefully they are behind bars for a very long time, but remember, we all have to go through this as women.
None of them are behind bars... I'll ask my mum for one of her melatonin pills though

Let us know how everything goes hun, I know it's hard for you, I've been a victim before when I've been a victim before when I was young, I didn't tell my parents about it until about 3 years ago, when I was 16. If you haven't been to therapy, then do so, for your own help, and really, if you want your mother standing behind you so that she's not really seeing anything, but she's there for emotional support, then that might be an option as well. It depends on what their policies are and what you're comfortable with.
My first one went pretty well, the doctor (female) was really nice and she explained everything before the exam started and then while she was doing the exam.
Your doctor isn't there to hurt you, I wish you the best of luck if you haven't already taken the exam by the time you read this.
Well, I went. AND- my dad had my insurance card! So now the appointment isn't until next Friday. So far the doctor is prettty cool. I saw her, she has her eyebrow pierced too. I've gone to therapy for other things and I'm on meds to take care of that. I don't trust any adults to tell them that stuff
Well, at least you got to meet the doctor ahead of time. That's a good thing. Glad she seems pretty cool. I know you don't trust adults, but remember the doctor is bound by laws not all adults are.
So was this one doctor... anyway... Mum said that wasn't the doctor, that was just the receptionist. O well.
