What is the best way to remove air from a water line from a reservoir to the house.

My concern would be not how to get the air out but how it got in there in the first place. Are you on a pump or city water?
Since air raises in water all you have to open up a faucet at the top end of the run and bleed the air out that way. Or am I missing something?: Tom
