    My Seahorse is pregnant
    Hi!

I have a seahorse and he's pregnant and we feed him and his other fishy friend which is a blue mandarin live brine shrimp because apparently that's what they like. But every time I put brine shrimp into the tank dead or alive he doesn't eat them. What do I do?

Unfortunately I don't know much about seahorses but I did find this site which looks like it has a lot of great information.

    The Stable

Has he been happily eating the food up until now?
Are you sure he is pregnant?
Sometimes air can actually get trapped in the males pouch. If he is acting normal (swimming around) then he is most likely pregnant. If he is holding on for dear life to an ornament then he may have air trapped... they hold on so they don't float to the top of the tank.

Well we actually caught him in an estuary and we've only had him for a little bit like a week. I looked at a couple of pictures and his belly seems to be getting bigger. He does swim around but he does cling to ornaments and stuff like that. But there is no airstone in the tank so I don't think he has it trapped in his belly because the belly is getting bigger. I feed him but he doesn't eat when I'm watching I even turn off the filter but he doesn't even react when I put the shrimp in the tank the other fish does though.

I am sorry, but are you saying that there is no areation?
All living things in your aquarium need oxygen to live.
Seahorses like their oxygen to be pretty close to saturation, so an air pump would be a helpful thing to have. I don't like airstones because the bubbles they make are too small.
Captive bred seahorses will actually eat freeze dried shrimp and brine.
I think Iunderstand that you caught these seahorses somewhere?
You may need to look into different food types depending on the size and where your guys originated from.

I liked this site for info Seahorse Organisation. Keeping and Breeding Seahorses in the home aquarium.

And there is a book I bought for $2.99 at Walmart, called seahorses. Imaginiative, I know :)
