My television won't come on from standby the light just goes dim

Unplug the unit for 60 seconds and then plug it back in. What happens when you switch it on.

Hi thanks I've tried, before I swicthed it off the child lock was engaged as it has been for a few months and I didn't know how to disengaged so I have only been able 2 use the TV through sat receiver

Okay, but what happens when you try to turn the TV on? Does it just do absolutely nothing? Does it quickly turn on then off? Is it not displaying a picture, but is on? Also, have you tried turning it on with both the remote and manually by the button on the TV?
