    Can V.A. disability be garnished
I received a v.a. settlement for disability back pay that was owed to me and when deposited in a cd at a bank the department of revenue withdrew the funds. I told the department of Revenue that it was my disabilty pay. They did not care and they left me broke and when I advised the bank they also were not interested. I am a 100 % disabled american veteran and depend on my disability to servive. Is there anything I can do to recover those funds if they are not suppose to be garnished. This was for child support that was in rear for children that were not even mine. They also refused to allow me a DNA test. Thanks

I don't think so, but check with one of the national service organizations such as the DAV, or Order of the Purple Heart. They will give you the straight scoop.

VA disablity can be garnished for back child support, and future payments can be garnished for current payments.

Also you merely "telling them means nothing" if you wanted to try and stop it, you have to appeal the garnishment in court.

And sorry that the law is not fair about not allowing DNA testing, some states have strict rules if you wait too long to challenge it, or if you were married at the time the children were born.
