I have a furance that is old but the problem I am having is that when I turn the heat on it will come on but will not run long or when it is suppose to get to the temp.. Well so then I trun it from auto to fan then the fan will not come on so I trun it off by the switch that is next to the furnace the one that is hooked to it so I leave it off for about five minutes then I turn it on then it works but it is staying on it is not going off that is the fan now the heat will go off when it hits the correct temp I have clean it I have cleaned now when I look at the switch box there is a red light that comes on when I click it about five minutes later because I have to wait that long or it will not come on and neither will the red light

If you just have a simple pilot ignition then you probably have something that looks like this which is a fan control. You also have a fan relay if you have A/C or a fan on switch on the thermostat. Without knowing the exact problem (your description leaves many different possibilitys) I suggest you look into these fan control items. Since I have no idea of your model number I can be of no further assistance except to say that your problem could also be related to a Gas pressure situation which you will need professional help on site to adjust.

You stated pilot in your post so the info given to you was for that. Now it is possible that some of the parts above also work on your style of unit. Since now you are posting that the pilot automatically lights then if your unit has a flame sensor clean it with fine sand paper or steel wool.

This whole time I did not know that the flame sensor came off but yes I did sand it before while it was on but guess what I took it off after seeing the pic and now it is fixed thank you so much let just keep praying that it contiues to stay fixed thank you so much from teresa
