    silt in home water
we just bought our house (repo) and there was a no salt filtration on the well. This has not stopped the iron stains or the silt coming in. the water is so hard that even applying lotions and oils to ourselves three x's a day does not help. We can not even use the outside water faucets because the silt has cloged the valves so that if we open them we cannot shut them off. We have a filter along with the other system that we have to change every one and a half to two months, but it does not stop the silt coming in. is there help for both problems?

    Hi Strevino...

At a minimum you could purchase a water softener shower head... see pic. That should help with the dry skin. At a maximum you may want to consider a water softener, but would need to do a free water analysis to determine if that is the correct direction to take. Get 2 or 3 opinions on this before proceeding to purchase anything.

Check out some water softener shower heads here:

You should also add a sediment filter. The sediment filter should help with removing silt and is available at any home depot or Lowe's home improvement stores.

Let me know if you want to discuss more...
