A General question. Hope some ladies can answer.

Do females really like receiving flowers and why?
I give flowers once in a while, mostly after I messed up but once in a while just for showing that special someone that I care.

I can only speak for myself,but would think I'm fairly typical in that respect,so yes,flowers often and not only after a mess-up.

Does it make you feel special?
Why is it nice to get flowers?

Sorry the questions might seem dumb but I am just trying to understand the female perspective.

Any honest thoughtful token of affection would make most females feel special I imagine.
Flowers are a beautiful thing and they smell good!

I like flowers, but I like hand picked flowers.

I'm not a roses girl.

If a guy gives me hand picked flowers I melt.

Gives me weird butterflies and I have a dopey face throughout the whole day.

-sigh- It's been years since I gotten flowers, this thread made me depressed.

I try and even budget them into my own household budget every week.

Receiving flowers as a token of love,lets you look at them all week.

Going a bit off track : Once in a blue moon, I would say no more than 3 months apart but not like clockwork I would do something nice.

Sprinkle rose petals from the front door through the house to the bathroom with some bubblebath and rose petals on the foam, nice candle lit atmosphere etc.

Guess it's a nice surprise when my girl gets off work and gets some time to relax. When she is done a nice home cooked meal waits. Hmm hmm.

The hard part is trying to keep things fresh and not the same thing over and over. Where can I get some great ideas to make someone feel special?

What would make you ladies here feel special or what would you like to find when you get home that will make you feel loved?

What you just wrote rose petals etc sounds like a wonderful idea.
A romantic weekend away?
A bottle of her favourite perfume?

I love getting flowers. Especially at work... They make me melt! :)

While the flowers are precious, for me, it is not the flowers themselves that make it special... it is the time and effort that it took to get them.

What would make my day...

A clean house,laundry done,the dinner on and the kids magically gone some where for the evening...

And then a couple of hours on my own!

From a guys pov, they like it for different reasons. Being thought of in my opinion, being 1st. Mine loves it when I give them to her. Did last night by the way.

I would think that anything you do for her would and should be appreciated! What a great guy you are to be thinking of her wants and needs! Flowers are great, maybe see what her favorite flowers are. What about a massage, a poem (even if it doesn't rhyme), a surprise evening out, or hide a special token or note where she will find it later. I'm with HistorianChick, it's not really the gift, but the time and effort you put into it that shows you care. Good luck!
