If I get disabililty for my son do I file taxes
I receive disability for me, when I filed for my son they told me that I exhausted all the back pay, but then in oct of 2009 then sent me a back pay for my son of $694.00 and he is now getting $59.00 dollars every month. They said that this came from a increased in cost of living. sat. jan. 8,2010 I received a tax paper from social security for my son . I also collect unemployment with taxes taking out,and I been receiving unemployment since nov. 26,2008 until now.

Social Security disability received for a child is in the child's name, and therefore should NOT be on your tax return.

You will probably have to file a tax return due to the unemployment compensation, which IS taxable.

YOUR disability, if received from the Social Security Administration or from a private policy which YOU paid for, is tax-exempt.

If the disability is from your employer, then it IS taxable.
