I agreed to rent an apartment because they accept my dog now the landlord says I can't have it, can I brake the lease? I had to spend over $1000. To put my dog in a hotel until I found someone to take care of them.

    Hello Ang:

It appears that your landlord broke the lease, and all you're going to be doing is cleaning up after it... Consequently, since HE already BROKE it, there is NO lease for you to break...

Did you have permission for your dog in writing? Even if you don't, you may be able to prove you had permission because other tenants may have the same arrangement...

But, whether you can prove it or not, I'd leave because He broke the lease already... NOW is the time (as was then) to put EVERYTHING in writing... Therefore, send him a certified letter telling him that you plan to vacate and when, and BILL him for the pet hotel fee you incurred because of his breach of contract. Tell him further, that you're going to SUE him for moving expenses.

What state is this in? Like excon asked, did you get anything in writing regarding the landlord saying you would be allowed to have the dog in the apartment?

How long has your dog been in the hotel?
