I am 7 weeks 1 day pregnant, last Monday I lost a blood clot and started bleeding as if I were having a period. I went to the E.R. they said that my cervix was closed, I heard and saw the heartbeat which was in the lower part of the normal range but still it was there, they also said that some of my levels were low, and the baby was sitting low in the uterus... but all in all everything looked fine. But to this day I am still bleeding like I was having a period, but I have no cramps or discomfort. The doctor told me to come in only if I started having cramping. But why am I still bleeding?

Missy, This can be caused by several reasons, yet there are reasons unknown as well.

A low lying placenta can cause this. Bleeding from intercourse can cause this. Has your doctor suggested pelvic rest until this stops? If not, it might be something for you to think about.

Sometimes we just don't know why this happens. If there is still a heartbeat (fetal heart tones), it should be okay.

This could also be a threatened miscarriage. At 7 weeks there is little that can be done to stop this, if that is what it is.

I can't have sex for 3 weeks, no lifting heavy things, and just take it easy.
