Where is the valve located to turn on my gaslog fireplace

It could be almost anywhere but usually it is located within site of the unit. There are no specific code sectioins that address this issue with the exception that there has to be a shut off valve before the union to take apart the pipe. This valve could be located in the basement or elsewhere according to the National Fuel Gas Fire Code.
