I have a bathtub spout that has a "half-dollar size metal plug on the bottom side of the spout. This "plug" has a long slit in the center. I am assuming I have a slip-on spout, but cannot be for sure. Problem is, I can't take out that plug to reveal a hex screw. I've tried with the largest screwdriver I have and this plug must be corroded on. Is there a special tool to remove this plug?

Can you turn the spout 180 degree up and see if you can remove the plug or if the spout shows to be getting loose if it does than it is the threaded type, see the images below if any matches your spout or if you can post a pic of your spout will help, Thanks.

Unfortunately, I cannot budge the spout. As a result, I can't quite identify which type of spout I have. Again, I assume it is a slip, but it is on really tight. Went to the "BIG ORANGE BOX" to find a tool for this or some understanding on this type of spout. On both fronts, no help.

I can’t tell from the picture that it is slip fit.
If you really need to remove the spout then use a bigger pliers see the image below and turn it counter clockwise that the bottom comes up if you feel that it is getting loose continue turning until it comes off, if not once the bottom is up try to remove the plug or puncture a hole through to see if there is a screw, I would also wait and see what the other experts will advice once they get online, Thanks.

I need a bung or stopper to stick onto the spigot end of the tub spout to temporarily keep the water when it is turned on from coming out. My wife is sick and drinks water from the tub. T makes her sicker.

Is there a stopper for the free end of a bath tub spout to temporarily keep water from flowing from it?

The only thing that I know to remove the spout if it is a slip type put a Sharkbite end cap on the pipe see the image below, if it is threaded type put a threaded cap, Thanks.
