Hello,
I have two male guinea pigs in the same cage(I did not do it on purpose), I know a lot of people say you shouldn't keep two males together, but mine are doing just fine, they've been together since august( I know not to long but.. ), they cuddle together, they eat together, everything. I was just wondering will they just one day decide to turn on each other with no signs?
From personal experience have you kept 2 males together?
Im not to worried about it since they haven't even had a little argument!
But if there is signs to them about to fight what are they?

Guinea pigs are social creatures. They like to be in groups... There is no guarantee that these boys will continue to like each other once they're adults... Keep an eye on them. I'm guess that since there are no females to compete over, you shouldn't have a problem.. but... boys are boys.. and most intact males in the same area with one another once reaching adult hood is never a guarantee that they will remain like that.

How old are they?

I also had 2 boys housed together when I first started keeping guinea pigs, because the people at the pet store told me they were litter mates and they'd be fine together and one of them started pushing the other one out of the food and water and I didn't realize it for awhile because he wouldn't do it while I was in the room... I only noticed because the one who was being bullied started losing a lot of weight and I started paying more attention when I fed them, but by that time he had lost all the important vitamins that piggies get solely from their food... within days he'd gotten sick and he stopped eating all together and despite several trips to the vet he didn't make it. All piggies are different, so there's no way to say whether this would happen to your little guys, but I would suggest at the very least watching to make sure they're both getting enough food and water or even separating them during dinner-time. If you're going to keep them together, it's definitely something you need to moniter constantly. If it were me, I would probably separate them BEFORE they start fighting, but they're obviously friends, so I would definitely leave them next to each other so they can still see each other and give them play dates once a day or so. That way they won't miss each other too much. I'm doing this with my chinchillas now and they're SO happy! Good luck to you and your babies!

Since you said they are okay right now I think you could separate them and let them be together once a day or something. You never know when they could turn on each other.

My little sister has two young males kept together, they argue a bit, but otherwise are just like yours! And we've had them the same amount of time! Just care for each equally, and give them plenty of outside of the cage time! ;)

I don't suggest that Joy, once they have been together that long it will affect them to be apart. They are social animals, and require company, especially if you're not home most of the day.
