What's wrong when my furnace starts blowing hot air then stops and shoots out cold air... then when I check the thermostat the temp went down by itself...

It could be a multitude of items. If the burner stops then no more heat will be supplied but it is very difficult to tell when you have a no name and no model number unit to start with.
