A lump on my head for 5 years doctor says normal? Never biopsied? Should I be worried
In about 7th grade I noticed a pencil eraser sized lump on the back of my head. I went to the doctor to find out if it was anything. He told me that it was OK. And I probably got bit by a bug and it would go down. Since then I have had a lot of illnesses and the lump has gotten bigger. It is around 2 inches now. My grandmother just recently passed away from breast cancer. There is not head on the lump and it seems to be stuck to my skull. I can push it but it is stuck. Like you can not move it. My 1 year old brother was born with the same lump on his head. I was notified that my late grandfather also had one as well. My brother goes to the doctors tomorrow. Should I be worried. I don't believe that it is a cyst. I think it might be something more serious since it was the size of a pencil eraser and now it is the size of a ping pong. Please help me! What should I do?

Anything that grows abnormally, fast or irregularly shaped is a problem. Yes, see a doctor.

    Hi, littlenittany13!

No one here can diagnose what might be happening. Please do go to visit a doctor.

    Thanks!

I have one too. I've actually had 2 removed. Sebaceous cysts is what they were. It seems your doctor is not concerned about them, so I tend to believe you have sebaceous cysts as well.

I went to the doctor today and he is sending me to a General Surgeon which specializes in oncology. I will be going there on Friday. Wish me luck.

Good luck... why oncology though? Does your doc think it's cancerous?

I found out that my baby bother has one and my grandpa had one so it could be. He is just I hope being safe. He said that it was not a good thing. He thinks that it could be but he wants a second opinion from a specialist.

I had surgery for mine... twice. No big deal. I wasn't even put to sleep for the surgery, just a local anesthetic.
