If I purchase an acrylic shower base is it necessary to install some sort of moisture barrier between the cement board and the base?

Hi Mike, No, There should be no moisture. The drain will remove all the water. If you installed a moisture barrier under the base and there was a leak all it would do is trap the water under the base. Put your mind at ease. Installed properly there will be no moisture to worry about. Regards, Tom
