Thank you for making yourself available to us, I appreciate your time and expertise. Attached is an email of my problem goldfish. He is 7yrs old and shares his tank w/ 3 other goldfish which are unaffected. As you can see, he has two growth patches on his skin, one just below his dorsal fin and another (barely visible in the photo) on the same horizontal just in front of the fin.

I have put him in a hospital tank a couple times for treatment. I tried ich medicine, fungus medicine and tea extract to no avail - the bumps persist.

1. Can you diagnose the problem by looking at the pic? (Ich? Fungus? Parasites?)
2. Can you recommend a good medicine to address the growth?
3. Is this growth a threat to his room-mates?

Thank you for your timely reply. I submitted my pic to a few experts by email and one of them was able to point me in the right direction. Thought I would share the solution to help others who may run into this post.

My fish has Goldfish Pox (ix pox, viremia) which is not directly treatable through medication. Some googling shows that Goldfish Pox can be successfully treated by warming the water up to ~80°F and introducing up to .3% salinity.
