I have a rheem a/c and heat pump. The a/c works fine, but when I turn on the heat, the outside unit comes on for approximately 2 minutes and then turns off never reaching the desired temp. The inside fan does come on and doen't turn off when the outside unit does. I can run the emergency heat.

There are many components that can fail in the outside unit. Lucky for you the emergency heat is working since under the circumstances you have described the services of a local HVAC company might be desired and I am sure they are very busy right now. Is the thermostat is set correctly there is little more than I can advise you on since you will need tools including meters and pressure gauges to properly diagnosis the outside unit problem.
