Haier Furnace shuts off before reaching target temp
    Hi All,

A few months ago my furnace was set to heat at 72 and before reaching the temperature, it cycled on/off three times and then shut off. I had to manually restart from the thermostat to get it going again. To fix the problem, I replaced the filter and everything seemed OK.

Three months later (Today), the same problem occurred. This time I replaced the filter. When the temperature is set to 72 everything seems to work OK. When I try to raise the temp to 74, the furnace cycles off/on and then shuts off. The flame and blower turn on about 3 times and then shuts off. Does the furnace need cleaning?

BTW, the furnace is a haier 80000 BTU, home is about 1260 dwelling space.

It is a good possibility the furnace needs to be serviced. One of the furnace components is out of range or adjustment. Make sure all your heat registers are open and the return air is not blocked or restricted.

    Do you think its overheating?

You could try and clean the flame sensor if so equipped.
The thermostat heat anticipator set incorrectly could also cause short cycle.
Yes overheating will drop the furnace out on the high temp overload or fan switch. Usually if that happens the furnace burner will shut down but the blower will keep running.
