How much do you receive for claiming a dependent?

For tax year 2009 you get $3,650 as a dependent deduction.
If it is a child under 17 there is also the $1,000 Child Tax Credit depending on your income.
If you have a qualifying person you may be able to file "Head of Household" and enjoy additional benefits.
