    Leaking Shower Head (hot water)
I've been having a problem with the shower in my basement. The hot water is leaking from the shower head when the hot water is turned off from the knob. It started as a slight drip but now it is a steady stream. In the meantime, I have turned off the hot water connecting to this bathroom as to avoid wasting a lot of water. I took the faucet handles off and tightened the fittings there but it didn't seem to help, I'm really not sure what to do next. The shower is custom built with a tile wall and I don't have any access to the pipes. I really hope I do not have to tear down the tile to fix this. Any suggestions as to how to stop this leak would be greatly appreciated, thanks for your time!

    Hi Shawn,

Did you shut the water off and check the washer and seat. The image I'm putting up is a faucet much the same as yours with the exception of the center diverter. Shut the water off and remove the hot water knob and plate, Now unscrew the nut or nuts that retain the stem and back the stem and washer assembly out counterclockwise. Check and replace the washer if its worn or torn and run your fingernail or a screwdriver around the seat. If there are nicks or rough edges the seat must be replaced and last turn the water on foe a minute to flush out any crud that may be in the supply. Reassemble and test. Good luck, Tom
