Need more info. Is this a touch screen stat? If not, how do you know the stat went out. Check batteries, check for fuse in stat, let us know what you find.
Electronic stats can be temperamental about static. Remove the red wire coming to the stat from the furnace and the stat battery, wait 60 seconds and act you you are installing the unit for the first time. Its like a hard reboot of a computer. Follow the stat installation steps which will "reprogram" the stat back to normal. Just had to do this to mine last weekend. Also, now is a good time to replace the battery with a fresh new one.
If that doesn't work, modify the procedure a bit.
Turn off the power at the heater/AC unis. Take out the batteries. Follow the + and - connections. Ignore the straps that put the batteries in series.
Place a wire on the tabs that feed the stat for about 60 sec.
