The business I am going to clean is located in Harrisburg PA, 7 Offices + an assembly room downstairs all equal approximately 1500 sq ft to empty trash and vacuum then 6 offices + and layout room and conference room upstairs all equal approximately 2100 sq ft to empty trash and vacuum in addition to this downstairs there is approximately 735 sq ft that includes an entrance area, 3 bathrooms and a breakroom that require vacuuming, trash removal, scrubbing and waxing what is the avg rate for cleaning?

It's really got nothing to do with the average, because you won't get work if you're just average... People want their offices cleaned by an ABOVE average person.

I don't do my own laundry. I take it to a wash and fold place. I recently moved 15 miles away from the wash and fold place I liked... So, I tried a few here. They were average, or even less than average... But they WERE close, after all...

But, I like my stuff ABOVE average, so I drive the 15 miles every two weeks. I LOVE my tee shirts all folded perfectly and all lined up in the package... I like the lady, I like the service, and I'm willing to PAY for it, even though it isn't really more expensive...

So, don't be average... Besides, you need to know the guts of your business, and if you don't figure out your rates based upon your COSTS, then you're never going to know why you're going broke if you do... And, people who don't know much about their business DO go broke...

So, I'll ask you the following: How long will it take you to do it? How much will supplies, transportation, and other overhead cost you? How much do you want to MAKE?

If you do the kind of research the above questions will require of you, you'll find out exactly how much YOU should charge - not the average...

My cleaning skills are well above average been cleaning for many years. I asked for average rate, normally a professional cleaning service charges per square foot anywhere from 10 to 55 cents a square foot I am just trying to get a feel for the going rate in this area. I already have the job we are just negotiating cost.

I have been cleaning for this business for 10 years however it has moved to a larger facility and was just researching the going rate.

Well, I'm not your guy. There are a few others here who can help. Stringer is a guy who actually runs a few of those business's. But, I don't know if he could tell you what YOUR average rate is.

Besides, if this isn't a new area, why isn't the going rate, the rate you had going? Whatever price per square foot you were charging before, should be the going rate. No? That's not to say you shouldn't negotiate for more because you're very good. But, that's another matter...

Actually I agree with ex's answers to your questions. If it is just a matter of more square footage to be cleaned then you should possibly use your present sq ft price and multiply that sq ft to your rate.

If that is not the case, and there are other factors then please let me know. Example are you to now do things that you were not expected to do before... additional services?

I will tell you this however, and since you have apparently been in the business for over ten years you should already know... medical cleaning requires more intensity and knowledge, the price should reflect this.

Please give us more detail...

When you say '10 years in this business', I am curious, in what capacity? Do you own your own business? If so, for ten years? The reason that I ask is it will establish a starting point and I will know where to begin in answering your questions.
