Have a Moen shower faucet never use it now we have no hot water
We have an extra bathroom that we have never used the shower except to clean it. The house is 5 years old. Went to clean the shower today and there is no hot water coming out. It is a Moen washerless faucet. We took everything apart thought it was the adjustment for the temparture turned it to the left which would be hot but, still absolutely no hot water. Seems odd, the water was always hot before.
Hope you can help. Thank you

    Hi Robbie...

Problem is misuse is all... ;)

Shut off the water supply to the shower valve and then remove the trim plate and the chrome sleeve (pulls forward). Then you will want to remove the copper clip (see image) and "YANK" the entire cartridge assembly out. If the cartridge won't come you may need to purchase a MOEN HANDLE PULLER (see image) from your local home improvement store. While at the store purchase a new MOEN cartridge and a small tube of silicone grease as well (about $15.00).

Turn the water on quickly to clear the lines of any sediment before you proceed with installing the new cartridge. Then you'll want to grease up the ORINGS at the new cartridge and insert into the valve. You will need to push very hard to install that copper clip back into place. Reassemble all and turn the water back on and test to see how you did.

I have attached a picture of a moen valve for clarification. Ignore the last statement about replacing the cartridge. Buy a new one... very cheap!

Finally, once all is fixed plan on using the valve once a week just to prevent this from happening again. Same holds for the toilet and the sink faucet... OK?

Let me know if you have questions...

PS: Moen will send you a new cartridge at no charge if you can wait 10-12 business days. Just call 1800BUYMOEN and let them know that the cartyrdige has siezed.
