My boyfriend and I have been dating for years now and we both know that we are meant to be together for the rest of our lives. We are each others best friends and he knows me more than anyone on this planet. Unfortunately, we live in two different states because we met at the college we both attend, so I don't get to see him often when we go home on breaks which is excruciating.

We both have talked of getting married in the future and we know it will happen eventually, but is it weird for me to propose to him? But more like proposing for being engaged in the future. We're both still too young, but I'm so antsy for something to happen! I feel like it will make all of those long breaks easier in some way, knowing that we really will get married one day.

I don't know about proposing marriage at this point, but maybe you could propose a commitment with him. You could ask him if he would agree that the two of you could wear rings as a sign of your commitment to each other. Years ago, I believe a guy would ask a girl he wanted to be steady with to wear a friendship ring. In the eighties, me and a girl I was into wore clothe friendship bracelets on our ankles as a sign of commitment. It was a short lived fad around that time that some couples did. But either way, it shows a sign of commitment to each other.

Nice fantasy you got going on, and yeah, it will fuel the fires, and give you something to look forward to during the time apart. Don't be antsy though. Relax and be creative, and get something to symbolize your feelings for one another that you can have close, and be special to you both, while you get your education, and careers together.
