    Open hot wire
I have 2 outlets. One is in the livingroom & the other is on the opposite side of the wall in the bedroom. They both are showing that I have an open hot wire. I can not locate where it is coming from. Any suggestions?

Check a nearby live outlet that is working properly, many times the input at another outlet works, but the output has a loose wire. If the wires are just pushed into hole on the back of the outlets, this is a popular cause of opens in circuits.

Redo the connection onto the screw, wrapping clockwise.

It's always a good habit to pigtail your wires like this http://tinyurl.com/y9mcj9 . That way if a wire comes off your outlet, the circuit remains intact.
BTW, if applicable, don't forget your ceiling junction box. I once had an open neutral, and after pulling out every outlet across my living/dining area, it dawned on me that the neutral had actually gotten loose after a former tenant changed the light.
