My grandaughter was living with a boy and purchased a truck. The boy friend used the truck since my grandaughter had a car. They have now split up but the boy friend will not return the truck. The title and insurance both on the truck are in my grandaughter's name. Now the state is threating to suspend her driving license due to failure to renew the insurance. What legal recourse does she have to obtain possession of the truck. She appears to be afraid of the boy.

Who is the REGISTERED owner of the truck? I assume it's your Granddaughter - ?)

    What State?

If your granddaughter's name is on the title then she is the legal owner. Assuming she has the keys she can just drive away in it. If she can't get it when he's not around, then call the police and tell them he refuses to return her property. The police will probably send someone with her to reclaim the truck.

Or she can tell him to return the truck or she will report it stolen.

Depending on the state, this is a crime, she can not of course just cancell the insurance on a vechile she owns.

As noted, she can merely go get it, since she is the owner, she can go with a key and drive it off, or go with a tow truck and have it towed off

One other point. She should always carry a copy of the title or registration when driving the truck.

Yes, state of GA, all she needs to do is first have the paper work of the truck with her and just go get it,

The police will not go with you, but if he tries to stop her, she can call them and they will come
