    Are you referring to a Shih Tzu dog? If so, this should be posted in the pet section and a moderator will move it.

    She may be deaf.

    I am not certain what the problem is - the vibration of the book hitting the floor should make the dog jump. I had a deaf dog (she became deaf when she was older) and she was very sensitive to vibrations.

    I would contact the breeder immediately and schedule an appointment with the vet.
