If two people sign a lease together can one of those individuals move a 3rd in?
My daughter signed a lease on an apartment in Los Angeles. While she was out of town he moved a 3rd person in WITHOUT my daughters consent and WITHOUT the consent of the Landlord/Owners. When she got back to the apartment she reported it to the landlord, but said she would let the girl stay IF she they each paid a third of the rent. Now, the other two parties are saying they will pay half of the rent and she has to pay the other half. What are her options?

Well this is not a simple issue. A lot will depend on the workding of the lease and the cooperation of the landlord. It also has to do with the layout of the apartment.

If the landlord has no problem with a third tenant let him rewrite the lease. If this is a 2 bedroom apartment, then it may be reasonable to have them pay half.

On the other hand, he did violate the lease by bringing in a third party. If the landlord does not object, then it could be grounds for her to break the lease.

I would strongly suggest she contact a local real estate attorney to see what her options are.

Your post is a bit confusing with all the random "she/she/he/them/her" but this is what I'm gathering from it:
Your daughter and Person A signed a lease together with the landlord.
While your daughter was not home, Person A moved Person B into the apartment without her or the landlord's consent.
Your daughter reported this to the landlord, who said Person B could stay in the apartment if they paid 1/3 of the rent.
Person A and Person B are now saying they should only pay 1/4 of the rent(1/2 split between the two of them) and that your daughter should pay the remaining 1/2.

If this is what's going on, then her options are to contact the landlord and inform them that Person A & B are not contributing equally to the rent and she would like for the landlord to a)evict Person B or b)let your daughter out of the lease because the sublet was not agreed to by your daughter.
