Failure to turn up for court
What happens if someone forgets to turn up to court for failure to pay their rent

It really depends on the court. In most cases a default judgement will be entered and the eviction granted.

You can then appeal to the court for a new hearing date.

They lose the case, if they are still living in the rental, the sheriff department sends officers who watches the landlord move all of your belongings to the curb of the road.

If this is for money due after you move out, they get a judgement and they can garnish your wages or attach money in the bank to attempt to get their money

The judge will probably enter a default judgement in favor of the landlord.
