Juvenile record first offense incomplete fine?
I was arrested when I was 15 for theft of items less than $200 in total. It was and is my first offense; I learned my lesson. The store mailed my house, telling me, or my parents (probably my parents?) to pay a fine of about $500 dollars (I think to pay the police? And some other reason) (I didn't read the letter), and that if it wasn't paid by the due date, the fine would be increased to $900. I wasn't 'charged,' at least, I didn't go to court or anything. They let me go home after taking my picture and banning me from the place for a year. Anyway, my parents didn't pay the fine, either amount. And I am not 18. Will this carry on in my current record? The reason I'm asking is because I really need a job, and am looking for one in retail. Oh yes, I live in Ontario.

Also, I don't remember if they took my fingerprints or not... I don't think they did. And I also didn't have my SIN card on me, so they didn't get that number from me either.

Ok, don't remember going down to a police station and having ink put on your fingers or had your hand put under a large machine that looks like a copy machine?

You either were or you were not, htat is not something you forget.

Do you are your parents agree in writing perhaps to this and there was no court appearance required.

Sorry we don't know what happened to you if you don't, Did you ask your parents,

Honesly you need to go down to a police dept and have a criminal record check ran

Oh, how silly of me. I was picturing fingerprinting like using an inkpad and tape when you do it in elementary school. I definitely did not go to a police station. And I am sure there was no court appearance made by my parents (they would have yelled at me for that too). I was just put in some room at the back of the store. Also, is shoplifting under $5000 a federal offense in Canada?

    Understanding Criminal Records

I just read that it depends on the offence when a juvenile record is disclosed, as opposed to the common "it gets 'erased' when you're 18"

No you were not arrested, the Leter was the amount the store can bill you for. If the police were involved you would have been given a date to go down to the police dept for photo and finger print,

A photo at the store would be for the store, to know you were not allowed back into store

I assumed that was what the photo was for too. But REALLY, I wasn't arrested? O_o... I know the police came. I thought I was arrested by the guy who detained me, the undercover shopper. I mean, he read me my rights off this card... You sure this applies to Canada?
