squiling Before I tell you,e xplain what this word is
Tick
Cockers are originally working dogs. This could be the reason he is reacting to the guinee pig. I am quite sure his reaction will subside but nothing you do will stop him from squeeling at it until he gets used to seeing it around and becomes bored with it.
Tick
I agree with Tick.
I have an indoor rabbit and when I first brought her inside my dogs wouldn't leave the cage alone for a few days.
Now that they are used to her being there they just leave it alone for the most part, although when I get my bunny out for a run and then put her away they still sit by the cage for 5 minutes before giving up.
You have to remember that a guinea pig = food for a dog.
Yup, it's all natural instincts for the doggy to want to hunt a ground animal. Can you put the cage in a room where the dog can't get in? The dog squeeling (? ) at the gunia pig, may cause some stress on the little guy.
I have a guinea pig who is usually at school with me (I am a kindergarten teacher). I bring him home for holidays, long weekends and the whole summer. My dog adores the guinea pig, but gets extremely excited when he first arrives. It still takes a day or two for my dog to calm down every time the pig arrives. She sleeps next to the cage when ever the guinea is here. :)
By the way, the piggie LOVES the dog too. He runs to the side of the cage and presses up against the wall so my dog can lick him. Then he begins to popcorn with joy! This goes on for an hour at a time. It is very odd, but quite cute. Give the dog time. If the pig starts to shake or make a deep purring sound that is fear. Protect him from the stress. Whistling is a happy sound, or in my case a call for more lettuce. :)
