Exactly. If you don't know what it is and it's flying, it's an Unidentified Flying Object. It could be a plain, a searchlight, or a distant rocket, a flock of birds at night or a weird looking cloud.

But if you don't know what something is, that does NOT mean it's alien from outerspace. If aliens were visiting Earth, you wouldn't need to ask about it here. There'd be pictures of them in newspapers and textbooks.

And entire department of the government for years just to investigate
