    Hi Bock...

What is the sump pump connected to... a main drain... the outside? Is it meant to pump waste water from the kitchen sink or other plumbing fixtures or is it meant to remove ground water from the basement?

In terms of the vent, the kitchen sink requires a vent (can be mechanical) but it needs to be ABOVE the ptrap. If you installed a SUMP PUMP in a COVERED SUMP BASIN in the basement then the pit also needs a vent, but that vent can't be a mechanical vent... must penetrate the roof or side of the house undisturbed (cannot combine vents).

    Let me know more... O.K.?
