    Medroxyprogesterone
Ok I'm 17 and haven`t had a period for three cycles so I went to my doctor and she put me on medroxyprogesterone 10mg. And said my period would start the following week after I finish the pills and I did I bled A lot. But 3 months before while I was missing I went to a party and well.. got drunk and feel asleep on the chair and I don`t know if any thing happened. And well I just can't seem to shake the fact of thinking I'm pregnant... I'm really scared and I don't know what to do. When I did bleed there wasn`t any pain just a lot of blood. I'm now currently on birth control and still have a week and a half till my scheduled period should come.. but I just can't shake this feeling that I'm pregnant..

So what I want to know is.. is it possible to have a major bleed on medroxyprogesterone and still be pregnant?

Did you tell the doctor that you had or may have had sex. Was any pregnancy test done prior to the medication.

You need to go back and follow up with your doctor

Pregnancy tests are typically performed prior to prescribing this medication. Whether you told the doctor you thought you might be pregnant or not, we as medical professionals usually perform a urine pregnancy test before we prescribe this medication.

According to my Mosby's Nursing Drug Reference:

"Contraindications: Breast cancer, hypersensitivity, thromboemolic disorders, reproductive cancer, genial bleeding (abnormal, undiagnosed), pregnancy (D)"

Therefore, we do a pregnancy test to make sure our patients are NOT pregnant.

Well I did the hpt myself and they all negative and she made me get a pelvic ultrasound to rule out ovarian cyts and they said it came back normal but the enternet said you can miss things and the pregnancy tests can be negative to to a hormone defency...

An ultrasound would also rule out pregnancy.

Firstly when you went to the doctor did you pee in a cup?

Also, a doctor will not prescribe birth control without a pregnancy test first.

What birth control are you on?

Then your doctor did a pregnancy test and you are not pregnant.

The bloating could be caused by a number of things including premenstrual symptoms, eating gassy food, constipation, etc.

Bloating is not a side effect of this medicine. I'm just guessing that it may have to do with just starting the med, finishing that heavy period, gas, or constipation. Only your doctor can tell you for certain.
