Can a checking account be garnished if they don't know the account number?
When a court ordered judgment is entered against you, can it randomly be sent to any bank to determine if you have an account there, or do they have to know what your checking account number is in order to send the garnishment?

They willl have to know what bank you have your accounts at, but that is easy to find using a PI. Anytime you open a bank account there is checks made either on normal creidt check reports or on the special report of prior bad checks that banks keep.

Plus of course they can merely make you tell them by getting a motion from the court to order you to provide that info

Agreed. The bank information can be traced easily by a SS number. You may also be served a subpoena/summons to reveal bank account info. It only takes a little detective work.

    Hi, ma3338!

Has there already been a judgement? If so, for what, please? Also, do you own a home?

    Thanks!
