What illnesses can I get from dogs?
I got licked all over my face by a dog and then within a few hours I got a cold or flu. Could I have gotten it from the dog?

No you could not have gotten the cold or flu from dog saliva. In fact, every time I get a cut, my dog licks it and it heals faster. Old wives tale, no I don't think so, it works and I don't care what anyone says.

Thank you for the reply. Maybe I got it from some gift that someone with a cold touched in a store. I sure feel wiped out. Could've been holiday stress too, I guess.

You should always, absolutely, wash you hands well as soon as you come into your home. It is all about prevention nowadays. Use a hand sanitizer whenever possible. It is not as extreme as it sounds. You touch handles on doors when you are out, just about anything you can imagine.

    Merry Christmas and stay healthy

Dogs are good at healing cuts on themselves or other dogs but they can transmit bacteria to people. Just thought you should be aware.

Dogs actually have good antibodies in their saliva; its cats that are the culprits, steve. Why do you think I said my cuts HEALED FASTER if my dog licked them. Just thought you should be aware.
