    Keyboard wrong character
So I'm using my Laptop now for I don't know 2 years or so and my keyboard shows me a wrong character when I want to put in a backslash or the "bigger then", "smaller then". It acctually coppied an other key on my keyboard. I searched for other people with the same problem but the only problem that they had was the language on the keyboard but that's not the problem. I even installed Windows 7 and it's still the same problem.

I hope someone can help me. Thx for any responses

Further infos: I got an ASUS PRO31E
My keyboard layout is Swiss (german) and I got those 3 characters I described above on the same button.

Check your keyboard mappings in regional settings

I'm not sure what exactly the keyboard mapping is but I changed my location and I changed the location of the keyboard. I even deleted it and saved but not even that helped.

Thx for the quick response :)

    Hello!

Sorry if I missed it, but what characters are actually typing when you type the backslash (\), greater than (>) or less than (<) keys?

You may have already checked this, but if you have your NUM LOCK on (numbers lock) on, that will also sometimes give you characters you weren't expecting.

As for key mapping, check this link out: Annoyances.org - Customize Your Keyboard Mapping

Let me know if you're still having problems with this.

I acctually tried to remap my keyboard but the problem is I don't know the registry that well. So I don't want to mess up my Laptop.

The characters which are shown are ($), (£) and (}). I got an other key on my keyboard which shows exactly the same characters.

It can't be the Num LK because I'm using my Laptop and if Num LK was on half of my keyboard would give me Numbers instead of Characters.

    Here's a picture of a Swiss keyboard: http://frontype.com/keyboarding/540p...-Swiss.svg.png
The button on the right of "shift (left)" has been replaced with the button on top of "shift (right)" and to the left side of "enter".

I hope that helps. Thanks a lot for trying :)
